Purchasing and International Logistics Manager
Department: Purchasing Department
Reports to: Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
This position is responsible for leading the department in all purchases and related inbound logistics for Palecek. This hands-on position requires a savvy professional who can balance inventory levels to meet customers demand while minimizing slow moving inventory. Must have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage international purchase orders from order placement to delivery.
Work closely with overseas team regarding order status, ship dates, and priorities.
Regular inventory review of both finished goods and components to ensure highest inventory turns and profitable inventory disposition. Develop innovative concepts for minimizing stock on hand. Identify and implement cost reduction programs.
Ensure all inventory controls are well maintained.
Analyze, review and update inventory purchasing models as needed.
Manage Hospitality contracts ensuring production is on schedule and timely arrival.
Oversee all incoming international freight shipments, including ocean, air and LCL shipments.
Ensure compliant record keeping with CTPAT. Gather necessary documents and submit annual renewals.
Source vendors from packaging to office supplies.
Renegotiate and renew international carrier contracts..
Responsible for one direct report. Mentors through empathy, coaching and feedback.
Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
Approve freight invoices.
Manage vendor chargebacks.
All other duties as assigned.
Proven record in effective negotiation skills and problem solving.
Experience in supply chain management and international logistics.
Experience in negotiating freight contracts.
Ability to influence through healthy communication and build constructive and effective relationships.
Ability to manage projects to ensure successful delivery.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with multiple levels of the organization including upper management and cross functional teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong follow through skills and attention to detail.
Leadership and management skills.
Ability to create, cultivate and implement change.
Strong Excel skills, AS400 experience a plus.
Education/ Experience/ Licensure/ Technical
BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or related field required. MBA a plus.
APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional certification (CSCP) OR
APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
5+ years experience in International Logistics
