Job Description Summary:

As the Senior Director of Production you will own the day-to-day business functions and be responsible for implementing scalable systems and processes that will increase our efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This operational oversight will include facility and manufacturing operations. Being tactical and a strategic planner is essential for a successful candidate. This position will foster continuous process improvements and further develop plant activities including processing, ordering, upholstery, finishing, packaging, QC, inventory control, and shipping of our products and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all aspects of Palecek’s warehouse operations including but not limited to achieving profit and loss goals, managing performance, establishing/tracking KPI’s, using data to optimize processes and creatively solving problems
  • Responsible for increasing efficiency, increasing revenue, and decreasing expenses without diminishing the brand or the experience for our customers.
  • Responsible for developing our human capital by attracting new talent; and holding team members accountable to perform at their best and achieve personal and company goals; facilitate and lead effective weekly meetings and other organizational events.
  • Lead in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and rewarding performance and retention
  • Directly leads a team of 6 direct reports
  • Indirectly leads a team of approximately 100.
  • Oversee the implementation, updating and compliance of HR practices, compensation, and general employment practices
  • Lead in creating an environment where people want to work, and we can perform higher than our peers.
  • Oversee and guide the process for annual operating budgets and business plans, budget forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Provide input in developing Strategic Operating Plan and manage the execution of the plan and the associated budget.
  • Lead the contract negotiation activities for manufacturing operations
  • Provide support for overall Quality Operations with a particular focus on compliance, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Participate in company strategic planning.

    Education, Experience & Skills:

  • 10+ years of operations experience with a proven track record of managing and motivating people using established and creative approaches.
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph. D. degree or equivalent preferably in engineering or manufacturing or related field.
  • A background in manufacturing, construction, or technology; previous experience working in a furniture manufacturing company is a plus.
  • An empathic leader that enjoys developing and coaching teams.
  • Requires a working knowledge of financial terms, principles, and the ability to analyze complex financial/business models to help develop innovative solutions
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership on key initiatives, deliverables, and deadlines
  • Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
  • Experience building, developing, and managing teams with a knack for finding the highest and best uses of team members.
  • Requires a positive ‘can do’ attitude, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, team-oriented, dependable, assertive, resourceful, strategic thinking abilities, strong organization skills, strong management skills, excellent interpersonal skills and EQ with a passion for building from the ground up.
  • Focused on accuracy, able to draw well supported conclusions and derive relevant detailed data; fanatical about execution and continuous self-improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations and Lean manufacturing principles. Lean Six Sigma training (Black Belt) preferred.
  • Experience establishing new technology-based processes/systems and refining old ones
  • Be a leader in problem solving activities to enhance safety and quality.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management programs (Asana,, etc.)
