Senior Cost Accountant

Works closely with Product Development, Accounting and Production departments to perform a variety from routine to complex duties that require advanced knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting procedures and principles.

Develop, plan and implement product cost methodology base on products offered to customers and company’s methods of manufacturing. Calculate and maintain product costs information using payroll, shipping, production and material records.
Prepare analyses of materials and production costs productivity and variances.

Requires strong cost accounting, analysis, report-writing and spreadsheet skills and extensive experience with integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. AS400 experience preferred.
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, plan, study and evaluate manufacturing processes, identifying key factors to production cost and related efficiencies.
  • Evaluate bill of material and routing accuracy and coordinate with others on its update.
  • Identify systems and methods for cost system improvement as well as production cost efficiencies.
  • Prepare inventory reconciliations
  • Prepare month-end journals and inventory reconciliations
  • Prepare analyses of production costs, (earned) standards, variances and inventory valuations.
  • Identify and collaborate with others to investigate, clear and improve processes to mitigate variances.
  • Prepare analyses of product/product line and customer division profitability based on prices and key cost factors.
  • Edit and develop detail reports in ERP system.
  • Develop cost tables to the variation of company product lines.
  • Compile cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
  • All other duties as assigned

    Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • 7 + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
  • Experience in process or cost manufacturing.

    Work Environment

    Operates in a professional office as well production environment. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Ability to sit at a desk for an extended period of time.

    Physical Demands

    Regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. Close vision requirements due to computer work.
    Regular, predictable attendance is required; including hours as business demands dictate.
